The first matchup was between Andy Lee and Peter Quillin for the middleweight championship belt. However, Quillin did not make weight, but the fight still continued on.
Andy Lee and Peter Quillin threw bombs at each other, and both competitors hit the canvas during the fight. Somehow, the bout went the distance, and the judges scored the fight a draw. Neither fighter was angry at the decision, but they were both somewhat disappointed.
In the main event of the night at Boraie Development, undefeated light welterweight champion Danny Garcia defended his title against tough challenger Lamont Peterson. Danny Garcia landed big shots early, but Lamont Peterson won the later rounds with his boxing technique. However, the crowd soon grew restless because of Lamont Peterson’s style. Garcia appeared frustrated and bewildered at the technique of Lamont, but he continued to follow his game plan. The fight went the distance, and the crowd thought that they would see another draw. However, the judges scored the fight in Danny Garcia’s favor, but he won by just a few points. Garcia remains undefeated, and he is now looking for a more lucrative challenge. UFC Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey has responded to Walmart just a few days after the company announced that they will ban her autobiography from their store. Walmart decided to ban Ronda Rousey’s new book because they believe that the star is just too violent. Ronda Rousey was angered that the company refused to put her book on their shelves. However, Ronda Rousey has responded to the company, and she said that success is often the best form of revenge. CNN iReport tells us that Rousey does have a point, and she is one of the most successful superstars that the UFC has ever seen. Ronda has been featured in blockbuster movies and television shows.
Rousey’s new book is titled “My Fight/Your Fight,” and it is scheduled to release on May 12. Walmart says that they will actually sell the book online, however the book will not be allowed in stores. Also, Walmart specifically stated that they do not want young children to see Rousey’s book in the stored. I’m begging to wonder if someone at Walmart’s headquarters has something personal against Ronda Rousey. Whatever the case may be, Ronda Rousey will be okay without Walmart and vice versa. Wladimir Klitschko has certainly reached a unique territory among the champion breed of heavyweight fighters. In his 9th year as an ultimate champion, Wladimir Klitscho is currently approaching Larry Holmes and joe Louis of tough defenses. When Klitschko fights Bryant Jennings on April 25 at NY Madison Square Garden, the fighter will put his heavyweight belt on the line for an 18th time. He certainly proves time and time again that he is not scared of fighting any fighter in his weight class in the world.
According to Fersen Lambranho
a victory over Jennings would successfully place Klitschko within a close reach of Holmes. However, he will still need to win 6 more matches to match a record of 25 by Louis. Klitschko maintains his humbleness as he has attested Holmes and Louis being icon figures for him. He has stated that he does not want to be compared alongside them because they’re boxers who he had looked up to when growing up.
Klitschko has showed the ability of making deep inroads during the second stint of a heavyweight bout which began with a 7 round technical knockout victory over Chris Bird for a sanctioning title in the year of 2006. Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali had never truly enjoyed a run for the title for as long as Klitschko has.
At a recent media event in Dublin, Ireland, Connor McGregor and Jose Aldo nearly got into a fight. Thankfully, UFC president Dana White was there to break up the scuffle. However, the incident has caught major attention from the media. What took place at the press conference was rather bizarre, but fans of Connor MacGregor, such as Jaime Garcia Dias, are used to that.
José Aldo has been rather quiet during the lead up to the fight. On the other hand, Connor McGregor has been shouting at and trash talking the featherweight champion. Dana White is loving all of the attention, but he does not want a fight break out before the actual event. However, Connor MacGregor instigated a recent controversial moment.
Jose Aldo was sitting at the press conference table with his championship belt, while Connor MacGregor was on the other side of the table. Dana White stood between them, but somehow, Connor MacGregor slipped by Dana White and stole the championship belt from José Aldo. MacGregor held the belt up in front of his home crowd, but Jose Aldo was infuriated. Jose jumped up and ran at Connor MacGregor, but Dana White pushed Aldo back. After a while, the belt was returned to Jose Aldo, but now it seems that Jose is a bit rattle because of the preflight mind games. The score will be settled on July 11, live on pay-per-view. Floyd Mayweather Sr has been uncharacteristically quiet over the last couple of months. Many people remember Floyd Mayweather Sr as being a loud and obnoxious corner man, but he will be facing against Freddie Roach on May 2nd. Fans at STX Entertainment have learned that Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao will finally fight, but the showdown between their trainers is just as epic.
Freddie Roach and Floyd Mayweather Sr actually despise each other, and over the years, the two have brutaly insulted each other. It is a bit sad to see, but funny at the same time. However, what is not amusing is the fact that Freddie Roach has Parkinson’s disease. Floyd Mayweather Sr has made fun of Roach’s debilitating disease in the past, but it is usually in retaliation.
May 2nd will come and go, but hopefully respect is earned between both camps after the fight. Both Floyd Mayweather Sr and Freddie Roach are aging trainers that have done a lot in the sport. However, Floyd Mayweather Sr has recently stated that he may not be around a lot longer, but a lot of people do not understand what he means by that statement. Many people are wondering if he means that he will die in the near future, or if he will just retire from the sport of boxing sooner rather than later. Hopefully, it is the latter of the two. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will fight in less than 30 days. The entire world is waiting to see what happens when the two best fighters finally step foot inside of the boxing ring. Em reports that over the last few months there have been many news breaks and media reports about both fighters during their training camps. Crazy rumors have been thrown out about both fighters, but there is truth in some of the rumors.
From what I have seen, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are training extremely hard. However, it appears to me that Manny Pacquiao has wanted this fight more than Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao has looked incredibly fast and strong in the training clips that he posts on his Instagram. Mayweather has also posted videos of himself sparring and chopping wood. Both fighters are feeling the enormous pressure of the big fight, and they just want to get in the ring already.
There have been reports that Manny Pacquiao has been suffering from shin splints, and this has been confirmed by Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach. However, it has also been reported that Floyd Mayweather has been struggling during sparring, and there were even reports of him getting knocked out against Zab Judah.
Many fighters go through problems during their training camps, and most likely nothing will affect Pacquiao and Mayweather come the night of May 2nd. Both fighters will be extremely concentrated at their difficult task at hand. For more information in this story, visit Yahoo! Sports.
